Everyday habits for living well with diabetes

Diabetes is managed day by day. Small, steady habits make the biggest difference.

Food and activity

  • Eat at regular times and watch portions of rice, bread and sweets.
  • Walk or stay active for about 30 minutes on most days, if your doctor agrees.

Medicines and checks

  • Take medicines exactly as prescribed — never stop on your own.
  • Keep regular follow-ups and blood tests so your doctor can adjust treatment.
  • Check your feet daily for cuts or sores.

See a doctor if you notice

  • Very high or very low sugar readings
  • A wound on the foot that does not heal
  • Blurred vision or numbness
