Staying safe in the heat

Hot, humid days are hardest on children, older people and anyone working outdoors.

Drink and rest

  • Drink safe water regularly, before you feel thirsty.
  • Rest in the shade during the hottest hours.
  • Oral rehydration saline helps after heavy sweating or diarrhoea.

See a doctor if you notice

  • Confusion, fainting or very high body temperature
  • No urine for many hours, or a child who will not drink
